Everyone has a basic understanding of the concepts that make
up Economics. If there is a shortage of something people want,
prices go up, and vice versa; our lives are shaped by supply and
demand.
Economics is about the issues that confront us all. It will help
you understand the world as we know it and you will gain a much
better grasp of issues in the news. You will realise that the government
plays a big part in influencing the provision of services, such
as health, education or defence. For example, how will the government
pay for the war in Iraq? Economics examines how these decisions
are made.
